In 2018, Together we raised enough money to help 65 Children throughout the country gain access to Audio-Books to assist them in reading during school, at home & for just plain fun.
In 2019, our mission was even greater...directly Supporting our TEACHERS through TRAINING in Explicit Multi-Sensory Literacy Instruction & Early Literacy Programs, empowering them in helping more children achieve Reading Literacy.
For 2 years (2020 & 2021) during the pandemic, we were more determined to expanded our efforts helping even more children with dyslexia achieve reading literacy. In celebration of our Coffee House's 25th Anniversary, we adopted a local school to improve their reading literacy programs & assist with classroom accommodations and teacher training for learning disabilities like dyslexia & provide help!
In 2022, we worked with the amazing folks at Reading Allowed, a local non-profit helping more families & children with dyslexia & reading differences through individualized support programs based on the science of reading.
In 2023, we teamed up with Mighty Writers, a local non-profit helping children to think clearly and write with clarity so they can achieve success. It was our honor to support Christian Luciano, a life-long friend, whose love and passion to help children succeed in school & in life, resonates beyond her passing in December 2024.
In 2024, our 7th year, we teamed up The Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia after learning about their ongoing Literacy Initiative throughout the great city of Philadelphia helping ALL children learn to read. Under the dedication & leadership of Joe & Lizabeth Marziello, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia started the Literacy Initiative to bridge the educational gap in Philadelphia’s most impoverished neighborhoods. Today, this program serves over 1,300 youth in 14 of our Clubs, including five elementary school partnership sites. Each Literacy Center is staffed with a full-time supervisor trained in multisensory instruction, which emphasizes Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency, and Reading Comprehension, the key areas highlighted by the National Reading Panel to support struggling readers. By providing structured support and using evidence-informed practices, we are able to improve the literacy skills of our youth.

Our Inspiration
We have been inspired by the resilience and determination of a 10 year-old girl who has successfully learned to read, despite being diagnosed with dyslexia in kindergarten. Her struggles make her stronger and her persistence to overcome dyslexia continues. When provided the proper programs, proper implementation and consistent accommodations, every child with dyslexia can successfully read. Yet many simply are not afforded that opportunity.
Dyslexia is the #1 Learning Disability in our schools impacting nearly 20% of our students. Yet many students continue to be misidentified & misdiagnosed because Dyslexia is misunderstood still today. Dyslexia can be Overcome when students are given the proper reading programs, correct program timing and consistent classroom accommodations. Yet many schools lack the resources to support our teachers in providing the training & programs to help ALL students read, especially students with learning differences like Dyslexia.
The odds are you or someone you know has dyslexia...they are our children, our family members and even our friends. Their minds are the most creative & innovative and they are often the hardest working, most resilient people you know. They are our inspiration in creating this Campaign. This campaign is to honor them while helping them Overcome Dyslexia, through access to the proper programs. Join us!
